Candy Hearts

We are making conversation hearts for St. Valentines Day

1 pack or 2 tsp plain gelatin

½ cup water

2 tsp cornsyrup (we used the light)

2 lbs powder sugar

First we mix the gelatin, corn syrup and water in a microwave safe bowl.  Then we mixed the gelatin around. Next we microwaved that for 30 seconds and stirred it again.

We put all of that in the mixer and then slowly added the sugar until it was all mixed.

We kneaded the stiff dough with extra sugar until it was not sticky anymore.  Then we separated that into 5 balls and we made a crater in the center.  In that crater we put some food coloring and flavors  in that.  then we kneaded each ball until it was all incorporated.  It was a good thing we wore gloves so our hands did not get colored.

After that we rolled each out and used tiny heart cookie cutters and set the candy aside to dry.
